    Showcasing Appreciation for Our Local Heroes

    Every first and third Tuesday of the month, starting August 26th (a week before Labor Day Weekend), join us for a heartwarming initiative called “Serve Those Who Serve”.

    This program shines a light on the incredible contributions of our community’s service workers – the individuals who go above and beyond to keep our lives running smoothly.

    How it Works:

    • Recognition: We’ll release a video on the first and third Tuesday, recognizing one honoree.
    • Monthly Focus: Each month, we’ll recognize a different group – teachers, healthcare workers, senior citizens, military personnel, and more – highlighting their hard work and dedication.
    • Nominees: By posting videos on TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, or Instagram with the hashtags #CM and #SERVICE you’ll submit your nomination for Serving Those Who Serve Others.

      What is Michiana?

      The name “Michiana” is a playful blend of “Michigan” and “Indiana,” and it won the hearts of locals in a 1934 contest organized by the Associated South Bend Merchants. Among the creative entries, Indiana politician Thurman C. Crook is often credited with this catchy name.

      You’ll hear “Michiana” all over the place, especially on local radio and TV stations in South Bend. Businesses love it too, as it attracts customers from both states. In 2016, a report revealed that Michigan residents are particularly fond of the term because it proudly features a nod to their state.
